BRAND

abroad offers jewelry unique to each wearer. All styles are designed in such a way that even within the same style, each piece forms differently, ensuring that no two pieces are identical. They symbolize individuality and uniqueness. Our hope is for everyone to feel comfortable in their own skin and embrace their individuality. Our designs are made to suit all styles, outfits, occasions, and moods.

Our jewelry is hand-sculpted and handcrafted at every step of the process, resulting in a work of art that reflects the skill and attention of experienced craftsmen. Each piece is made-to-order and crafted entirely in New York City. Supporting our brand contributes to the local community and small businesses.

DESIGNER

Riri Kamata founded abroad upon graduating from Parsons. Riri, born and raised in Tokyo, moved to New York when she was 14. From exploring American culture, she acknowledged the value of embracing her own and other individuality like race, cultures, traditions, characters, and styles. As an omen for her experience away from home, she named her jewelry line, abroad. She designs and hand-sculpts all of our jewelry at abroad.

PROCESS

At abroad, our jewelry-making process begins with the creation of a wax model, hand-carved by our designer, Riri, at our studio in New York City. Molds are made from each of these finalized wax models. Riri then uses these molds to re-sculpt the wax, infusing each piece with individual textures, shapes, and forms, ensuring that every piece is distinct and tailored to its owner.

Once the wax model is perfected, we entrust it to a local casting house in New York City. There, skilled artisans use their expertise to cast the model in 925 silver.

Our process exemplifies our commitment to authenticity and artistry. From the initial order placement to the final casting, we pour our heart into each creation, ensuring that our customers receive jewelry that embodies their style and brings them joy and confidence. We strive to create jewelry that resonates with the spirit of individuality and empowers our customers to express their true selves.
